L-R: Kara 7S (winner), Toby 7U (winner), Thomas 7M, Poppy 8T (winner), Asfer 8R, Rory 7S, Anita 7T, Anu 7R (winner) & Ayla 7R.
Also but not pictured: overall winner Hafizah 9U & runner up Joel 7M.
This year Non-Fiction November focused on resources and texts that centre on interests, pastimes, hobbies and activities, and we marked the month by organising not only a House Reading Challenge, but a persuasive writing competition that chimed with the national theme.
Students were tasked with designing and writing a persuasive piece to Pitch your Passion, and we were truly impressed with the standard of entries, and the breadth of interests and activities that our students participate in, and that they were eager to share their enthusiasm for; these ranged from a variety of sports, girl guiding, art and crafts, to lego-building, coding, and reading.
Our overall winner Hafizah 9U was awarded first place for a beautifully written and illustrated pitch on the joys of journalling. Well done!
Joint second placed winners Toby 7U and Anu 7R pitched their passion for competitive swimming and getting creative with art respectively.
Joint third-placed Poppy 8T and Kara 7S wrote persuasively on girl guiding and reading respectively.
All entrants were awarded house-points for their submissions, really well done all, and we look forward to sharing news soon about the winners of our Non-Fiction November House Reading Challenge!
