hot off the press for a new term

Our fantastic school magazine team start a brand new year in journalism!

Ready to get writing again is our team of school journalists and editors, who work hard with Miss Hammond on producing the UGS half termly school magazine: Perspectives, which is available to read on our website, and in print on a termly basis.

Getting involved in Perspectives is a great extracurricular and enrichment opportunity for our students from years 7-11, after school on Tuesdays, and they are pictured below at their inaugural meeting for this year, enthusiastically preparing fresh copy:

For Year 12 students (seen in our lead picture and below), it is a great Wednesday afternoon Electives option, and an invaluable opportunity to learn and develop journalistic and editorial skills.

Here our Literacy coordinator and Perspectives magazine lead MIss Hammond tells us more:

The Perspectives team are hard at work preparing more high quality journalism for our school community to enjoy. This year, the team are hoping to put out one online edition per half term and one printed edition each term, showcasing the very best our young writers have to offer. Students are invited to submit their entries to the winter poetry competition for the chance to see their work in print. All details can be found on SMHW.

We look forward to sharing perspectives on all that they achieve and their wonderful work moving forward!
