year 13 psychologists in action

Forensic start to the new term after a fantastic set of results for Psychology at UGS this summer!
The Psychology department could not have been more proud of the A level results and outcomes achieved by our students in the subject this summer.
In all, 25% of UGS leavers this year have gone on to pursue degrees in Psychology and related disciplines, having successfully secured places on competitive courses at an impressive range of universities, including:
-
King's College London: Psychology
-
York: Psychology
-
Sheffield: (2 students) Psychology and Law and Criminology
-
Liverpool (2 students)
-
Leeds: Music and Psychology
-
Salford: Psychotherapy/Counselling
-
MMU: Psychology
-
John Moore's: Criminology
As the new academic year begins, the current Year 13 cohort have embarked on their unit in Forensic Psychology, and can be seen engaging in the first of their lessons above and below:
As Head of Department Mrs Dooley explains:
In this lesson, students applied techniques from the FBI’s approach to offender profiling.
They analysed crime scenes to determine whether the evidence indicated if the offender was organised or disorganised, and formulated hypotheses about the crime.
Forensics is one of the most popular topics on the course, and as is the case this year, many of our students elect to go on to study Forensics/Criminology at university.
With huge thanks to Mrs Dooley and our Year 13 students for giving us this insight into the study of Psychology at UGS, and we look forward to sharing updates on their progress and all that they achieve moving forward.
