year 7 visit chester zoo

Species, Variation and Evolution: a day of scientific discovery for Year 7!

In what is a long-established UGS tradition, our Year 7 scientists headed to Chester Zoo for an enriching Science Discovery trip, and, like the animal species that they were investigating, made the most of the glorious weather.

Core to Year 7's independent learning experience, this trip is designed to develop their personal learning and thinking, as well as their scientific knowledge and investigative skills.

Our students were tasked with finding out information on two animals of their choice from endangered and near threatened species, orangutans, jaguars, black rhinoceros and Sulawesi crested macaques.

The students carefully made notes and endeavoured to find out as much information as possible.

Having successfully completed their visit, Year 7 are now challenged to create informative fact file posters to submit to a House competition.

We can't wait to see the results and to celebrate the winners!

With huge thanks to all the staff who supported the trip and to our hosts at Chester Zoo!
