Tara at ugs celebrate world cultures
Our TARA ambassadors are proud to share profiles of international cultures with our whole school community
Pictured above this morning are just some of our TARA (Trafford School's Anti-Racism Alliance) representatives: Year 12s Rose and Jasmine, Year 9 Diane, Year 7 Asfer, and Year 9 Nini, who, with the rest of the team Alexa, Tinu, Aiman, and Siya, are continuing their great work in sharing their vision with all in the UGS community.
As part of their plan to promote and develop the core TARA values, and to contribute to the creation of a fair and inclusive environment within schools and society, and to empower all to combat racism, they have been working hard on creating informative profiles and celebrations of international cultures and countries. The fact files are then shared with all at UGS, for students and staff to read and enjoy during form time.
Following on from Alexa's first posting, which was a wonderful celebration of Kerala, India and its traditions, festivals and cuisine, this week Tinu created a fantastic fact sheet on the history and culture of Nigeria, and on prominent figures of Nigerian descent:
For the remainder of this term, we look forward to celebrations of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China, in addition to the forthcoming assembly that our ambassadors are preparing to raise awareness about Refugee Week later this month; and to a planned fund-raising event at the end of term.
Really well done all, we could not be more proud of your ongoing work, and we look forward to sharing updates on all that they achieve!
