year 11 offer holder's event

Evening to introduce our prospective new cohort of students to UGS Sixth Form and KS5 study

The Sixth Form Team are delighted this evening to host a special event for Year 11 students from schools across Trafford, Greater Manchester and the North-West, and from UGS itself, who hold offers for entry to our Sixth Form in September.

The event will include a welcome to A Level study at UGS from the Sixth Form team and our current students, followed by workshops that students have been able to choose from, that will provide further information, and induct them into UGS KS5 study, experiences and opportunities.

The choice of workshops available to students this evening comprises:

Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Science: an overview of how UGS students who are considering degrees in these fields are supported

Mentoring and Super-Curricular Workshop: a dive into our Mentoring programme and a detailed look at our Super-curricular programme

Oxbridge: an in-depth insight into the support provided for potential Oxbridge candidates

Enrichment and Well-being: a consideration of the wealth of opportunities available at UGS Sixth Form, as well as all the ways that we support our students' well-being

Electives and EPQ: an introduction to our Electives and EPQ programme

"Learning to Learn": this session aims to help students develop a number of useful revision strategies to help with upcoming GCSE exams and to prepare them for the future.

Our current KS5 students will also present on their experiences at UGS, their journey through Sixth Form, their preparations for success and achievements, their post-18 plans, and their lasting memories of their time here at UGS.

The evening will also celebrate not only the achievements of our current students, but of last year's cohort, and their successful academic and professional pathways towards University, Degree Apprenticeships, and careers; and the truly impressive array of places that our former students have successfully secured at prestigious Universities, and on competitive degree courses and pathways.

It promises to be an informative, constructive and edifying evening for all who attend, and we cannot wait to welcome the new prospective KS5 class of 2024!
