science week launches today!

Amazing Year 7 Science Fair kickstarts a full week's programme of events at UGS!

During lunchtime today, there was an awe-inspiring world of discovery showcased in our Main Hall at the Year 7 Science Fair.

Our Year 7 scientists have been working really hard on projects that they have devised themselves, and today they went on interactive display, with the Year 7s on hand to share and explain.

Staff and students in school were invited to visit and many were keen to enjoy the exhibition and learn more, and pictured are just some of the initial visitors:

In our lead picture is one of the explosive Elephant toothpaste experiments, and imaged below are more examples of the vast array of projects that showcased the investigative minds and scientific knowledge of our Year 7s:

As you can see, there were truly impressive studies in all 3 fields of Science: Chemistry, Physics and Biology, and a great deal to be learnt also about nature, anatomy, and astronomy.

Visitors were invited to get hands on as Year 7 talked us through the mechanics of each study and experiment, and it was as edifying as it was entertaining:

What's even more impressive is that this is just the first in a week long programme of events here at UGS to celebrate Science Week, and we look forward to all that is yet to come, and detailed in the schedule below:

With huge thanks to our fantastic Year 7 Scientists for today's amazing Fair and a mind-blowing start to Science Week, to Mrs Walsh for organising it, fully assisted by our fantastic Science Technician team, and to all the staff who supported it.

And we can't wait to share updates as Science Week progresses!
