excited to announce book swap house event & Book fair

Looking forward to our forthcoming World Book Day celebrations!

It's nearly time for World Book Day and we can't wait to celebrate with a programme of events, in addition to our special Literacy Assembly.

Book Swap House Event

We're delighted to again organise our hugely popular Book Swap and are hoping that our students will make it even bigger and better this year! Details of how to get involved have been circulated to students, emailed to parents and carers, and listed on Satchel One, but we are asking students to look at home for a book that they have already read and that they no longer need, and that they think that others would enjoy, and to bring it in to swap it for another student's book to keep.

It's a great opportunity to acquire something new to read, and to participate in a whole school community event. House-points will be awarded for taking part and students are welcome to bring in a book at any time from now, with the event taking place at lunchtime on WBD Thursday 7th March next week in the LRC.

Book Fair

We're also really excited to have secured a Book Fair in school to continue our WBD celebrations. It launches on Monday 11th March and will be open daily at lunchtime throughout that week. Students will be able to redeem their WBD vouchers against the purchase of a book, and it's a fantastic on-site opportunity to browse and buy books and to spend vouchers in school. There will be over 300 new and best-selling titles to choose from, and every purchase helps us to earn free books for school.

We can't wait and really look forward to seeing lots of our students getting involved in these special reading events.

And finally ... date tbc but it wouldn't be WBD at UGS without the legendary Golden Ticket search for our year 7s - watch this space for updates!
