Green City Challenge

Urmston Grammar Year 9 and 11 Students at RHS Bridgewater

Students from Years 9 and 11 have braved the cold January outdoors to visit RHS Bridgewater and take part in the Green City Challenge.  While the chilly conditions might have given a sense that this is typical January weather, there is no doubt that climate change is a real issue and a challenge to us all.

The Green City Challenge specifically is part of the 'Ignition' project.  This is a Manchster project with a vision to build a city resilient to the problems caused by climate change. The  challenge is to design a garden in the city that combats urban flooding and urban heating and which increases climate resilience. This has been a great opportunity for the students to offer some solutions and plans of their own for a city and a future that they are very much a part of.
