talk on careers in law at lunchtime today

UGS Careers delighted to welcome visiting speaker today

As part of our ongoing provision for students, the Careers department were delighted today to host  visiting speaker Radhika Aggarwal from Manchester Law firm Weightman's, who delivered an informative session to our students on pathways into all branches of the legal profession.

Radhika shared her own journey from school, to University, and through progression to her current position; and she advised our students on the different pathways available to them, including those that they may already be aware of, such as the established A Level route, and those that they may not yet be familiar with, such as CILEX, apprenticeships, and conversion from another degree subject.

Radhika also talked the students through the many different branches of the legal profession, as well as the various diverse fields that a degree in Law can open up, and facilitate progression into.

The students also benefitted from an invaluable first-hand insight into the day-to-day working pattern and life of a solicitor, the key skills required, and the optimal way to work on acquiring these prior to applying to join the profession.

Radhika finished by imparting advice on the benefits of researching the finer details of what embarking on a route into this career involves, and passed on useful sources of further information.

Finally, the students were given the opportunity to field questions and to learn more about their individual queries.

Another great spotlight on careers and professional pathways for our students, and a further opportunity to directly engage with a professional in a competitive sector.

With huge thanks to Radhika for giving her time to deliver this great session to our students, and to the Careers department for organising the visit.
