house competition for library shelf-ie day

Students join in competition and help to promote their favourite books

National Library Shelfie Day is on 24th January, and to celebrate here at UGS we have organised a House competition, asking students (and staff) to participate by nominating the titles that would make up their dream bookshelf (mine is quite firmly grounded in the Victorian period, but I'm ever open to ideas and recommendations)!

In sharing the reads that have most inspired them, and that they have really enjoyed, students are contributing to our reading culture and whole school Literacy programme, and helping other students to make reading choices and to raise awareness of the wide variety of titles on offer.

Pictured above are Year 7s Sebastian, Kirishika, Kiara and Medha setting the ball rolling, and we look forward to receiving lots of nominations by the end of next week.

At the same time as enriching our Library experience, students are also actively participating in our House system, while earning awards for themselves, and points for their respective Houses.

Well done all, and we look forward to sharing the results!
