national non-fiction November reading challenge winners

Excited to announce the winners of our House Library Reading Challenge!

Pictured are Asfer 7R and Tina 7U who won our latest reading challenge.

We are proud as a school to participate in National Non-Fiction November, a celebration of Non-Fiction texts and of the value of extended reading on wide-ranging subject areas. And we are keen to take the opportunity to raise the profile amongst our students not only of literacy, but of all the resources that we have available here in our libraries, and on our ebook platform.

We have significantly extended our range of non-fiction resources over recent years in order to support the curriculum and to broaden the scope of the enquiring minds of our students, and in response to their feedback on topics and fields that are of interest to them.

The challenge was to explore and to read non-fiction resources throughout this month and moving forward, and both Asfer and Tina did us particularly proud by reading a significant number of titles.

Asfer is especially interested in Science, specifically Biology and Chemistry, and has enjoyed titles on these areas; however, he is also passionate about Geography, and took the opportunity to read a great deal about rivers, coastlines, oceans and mountains.

Tina is most interested in History, and was keen to read up on the world wars, but also borrowed titles on the Periodic table, on Medicine, on buildings and structures, and on inventions.

This has been a great opportunity for our students to consolidate their current interests and knowledge, and to ignite and explore new avenues of curiosity and enquiry, that we are sure that they will carry forward beyond the duration of this challenge.

Really well done all on your great level of participation and keep up the great work!
