finance & accountancy careers presentation today

Sixth Form welcome visiting speaker from Saffery LLP

As part of our ongoing provision for Sixth Form, our Careers Department have organised a programme of events and visiting speakers, with the emphasis being on giving our students a professional insider view on what working in different professional sectors is actually like, and advice on developing relevant skills for working in these areas.

Today the focus was on careers in Finance and Accountancy, and at lunchtime today we were delighted to welcome Dan, Senior Manager - Outsourcing and Accounts at Saffery, who delivered an insightful and informative presentation and Q&A on working in the sector, with a particular focus on the excellent apprenticeship opportunities that Saffery offer, and on early careers with them.

Students from Year 12 and 13 who aspire to pursue a career in the field were keen to take part, and to learn more about the routes available to them, while gaining invaluable guidance and advice on next steps, on the application and interview process, and on the different stages of the outstanding apprenticeship programme at Saffery.

Dan has a wealth of experience in the sector and with Saffery, and shared details of his own career path from School Leaver to his current Senior Management position, in what was a great opportunity for our students to engage directly with a professional who had direct experience of the route that they would like to take.

After the presentation, our students were keen to find out more, asking Dan questions about where they would study for the training part of the Apprenticeship (in central Manchester), and how this differed to Graduate level entry.

With huge thanks to Dan for giving his time to visit and inspire our students, and to our Careers department for organising these informative sessions.

Coming up, there will be visiting speakers in Law and a range of professions, and further information and dates will be circulated to our students and in our Careers newsletters.
