year 12 interview experience day

Year 12 participate in a day of Interview preparation provision for Careers and University Applications

Today our Sixth Form Team organised a Mock Interview Experience Day, provided on site, for Year 12 to participate in; this is part of our ongoing Sixth Form provision and is a crucial element of UG's learning and career preparation strategies.

Visiting interviewers, speakers and representatives from a multitude of professional organisations and Universities were invited to meet, talk, interview and work with our Year 12 students in the many and varied professional areas that they aspire to study towards and follow career paths into.

This year we welcomed professionals from the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Law, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, Finance, Civil Engineering, Pharmacology, Commercial and Business Management, HR, Insurance and University Administration to conduct mock interviews with our students, in addition to offering insightful advisories and guidance on their careers of choice.

We also hosted representatives from both Lancaster University and the University of Huddersfield, who presented and conducted workshops for our students on the preparation of University Personal Statements and CVs, and on making informed decisions on University courses and choices.

Year 12 were also involved in sessions with Sixth Form Team UCAS Co-ordinator Mrs Plano who guided them through the crucial first stage UCAS and OSCAR (online system used by students to support the writing of personal statements) registration.

Year 12 found today's provision invaluable and there was a great deal of positive feedback, both from students on how motivational, constructive and helpful the day had been, and from visiting representatives on the commitment and enthusiasm of our students.

Many thanks to all our visitors and organisers for contributing their time, insight and knowledge towards this experience for Year 12, and for supporting them in making informed academic and professional choices.
