another busy week ends

Lots taking place as the week draws to a close!
As another busy UGS week draws to a close, and as we enjoyed welcoming so many of our Year 7 parents and carers to our Information Evening on Wednesday, today saw the first of our House Mixer events take place at break, starting with Bradfield. Head Mr Kennedy-Fowler can be seen dropping in (lead picture) to join many of our Year 7 and 8 Bradfield students and staff.
Those participating got the chance to enjoy refreshments and a fun "getting to know you quiz", while meeting our Bradfield House prefects, Adam, Alice & Owen:
Mixer events will continue next week as follows:
- Tuesday 23rd September - Oak
- Wednesday 24th September - Park
- Thursday 25th September - Orme
- Friday 26th September - Mersey
We can't wait!
Also today, Year 8U students Jess and Sienna delivered an inspirational and impactful assembly for all year 8 and 9 students on inclusivity, a topic that they had chosen themselves. We are incredibly proud of both students for demonstrating student leadership and our core values of Pride, Participation and Empathy. Really well done!
Finally, our Year 13 Biologists enjoyed the final day of their 3-day residential, and today they were at Filey Brigg, where they were busy investigating the effect of desiccation on the distribution of a variety of intertidal organisms.
The students also collected samples along a transect, counting the number of limpets and barnacles, and calculating the percentage cover of serrated and bladder wrack.
With huge thanks to all our staff who supported this opportunity for our students and to their hosts at the Cranedale Centre.
