bbc workshop

Fantastic workshop on careers in journalism delivered by BBC North West editor Chris Brindley & presenter Annabel Tiffin to our Year 12 students!
We were delighted today to welcome BBC North West editor Chris Brindley and presenter and journalist Annabel Tiffin to deliver a superb workshop to a group of Year 12 students on careers in journalism and broadcasting.
Chris and Annabel shared their own pathways into the profession.
And gave invaluable advice on careers, discussing the opportunities available to young people who aspire to break into the sector and at the BBC, via university and apprenticeships.
During the workshop, they encouraged our students to critically think about the news.
Its many platforms, what news means to them and to others, and how it should be presented and delivered.
They also shared unique insights into the operational side of broadcast journalism, and also specifically of local and regional journalism and its importance to giving people a voice and to connecting with the wider community.
The students (and staff, not least Head Mrs Wall!) also jumped at the opportunity to experience the demands of live broadcasting while handling in-ear directions from a production team!
Chris and Annabel concluded the workshop by fielding a series of questions from our students, and staff, who were keen to learn more about journalism and broadcasting, and to make the most of this fantastic opportunity to meet and engage with professionals in the field.
With huge thanks to Chris and Annabel for kindly taking time out of their busy schedule to visit us today in what has been a hugely enriching, informative and enjoyable experience for all involved.
