ready for launch

Science Club's Mars Landers get put to the test!

This week, in another great workshop for Science Club, our Year 7 scientists finalised their NASA-inspired designs for Mars landers.

Channelling the spirit of Curiosity, Phoenix and Rover amongst others, their mission was to design landing apparatus using the NASA template of a pyramid lander capsule, utilising balloons, tape and boxes.

With the objective of safely transporting and landing its cargo: an egg!

On completion, our students thoroughly enjoyed putting their landers to the final test: launch from the balcony of S1, under the watchful guidance and supervision of Mr Murray, Dr Bethell and Mr Sharp.

Some eggs safely touched base.

Others were not so lucky, but the mission objectives of fun hands-on scientific learning were very much fulfilled!

With huge thanks as ever to Team Science for creating these wonderful extracurricular opportunities for our students.
