goodbye class of 2025

Fantastic last day for our amazing Year 11 students!
Today, our last day of half term, we bid a sad but fond farewell to our Year 11 students as they leave us to begin study leave as the GCSE exams continue.
The day began with a very special surprise visit from an ice cream van, dishing out well-deserved treats for our leavers.
Clearly enjoyed in the sunshine by all, especially as they had just completed their English Language GCSE exam!
Next, it was time for the traditional signing of shirts.
A must-have for those all-important school memories of time with peers and staff!
Then it was into our theatre for a very special leaver's assembly, and a fabulous photographic carousel of memories from our students' arrival back in 2020, through to 2025.
Mrs Wall opened proceedings for what will sadly be her final leaver's assembly before her retirement this summer, and she shared her pride in the cohort and in their UGS journey. Of course, this began during the Covid pandemic with all its challenges, but Mrs Wall paid tribute to Year 11's resilience and to all that they have achieved, and the wonderful ways in which they have consistently stepped up during their 5 years with us.
She spoke for us all in articulating her certainty that the students will continue to contribute to the long-standing legacy of Urmston Grammar's success.
Year 11 Pastoral leader Mr Gough, pictured below, thanked Year 11 for all their hard work, humour, great behaviour, and for being such a wonderful bunch of young people, and wished them well in pursuing their goals in life.
Finally, Assistant Head Mr Roberts shared how he had enjoyed watching Year 11 develop into the outstanding young people that they are now, and thanked the students for all their hard work and contributions to our UGS community. He then led the year group in thanking their form tutors (some pictured below) and the pastoral, teaching and support staff who have worked with and for the students over the last 5 years.
Year 11, you've been amazing; looking forward to seeing lots of you back in September to join our Sixth Form, but for now, very best of luck as the GCSEs continue, we know you'll go on to enjoy well-deserved success.
