goodbye year 13

Sad but fond farewell to our fantastic Year 13s!

Today it was time for our Year 13s to leave us before the start of their A level exams, but we have enjoyed a lovely day of celebration, happy memories and the inaugural screening of our fabulous leavers' video, expertly videographed by Mr Neale and the Sixth Form team (pictured below) as a fun farewell from staff to this amazing cohort.

The day began with a get-together, buffet and that all-important signing of the school shirts.

It was then time for a very special assembly, where Mrs Wall, Miss Lingwood and Mr Neale all paid tribute to the year group, and to all that they have achieved and contributed to our school community during their time with us, be it for 2 years or 7.

As Mrs Wall observed, in what is poignantly her very last Year 13 Leavers' Assembly before retiring in the summer, it has been a privilege to know them all and to watch them grow, not only academically, but as fully-rounded young people with so much to give to the wider community and society.

We know that they leave us well-prepared not only for their exams, but for their future personal and professional lives, and as Miss Lingwood observed to the year group: "You've worked for this, you're prepared for this, but you are not alone".

Our students will continue to be supported by us and will forever remain a part of UGS.
