brilliant supercurricular lecture
And more as a busy week ends!
Yesterday evening we were delighted to welcome Dr Sam Dempsey to deliver a brilliantly insightful and interactive super curricular lecture on his experiences as a resident doctor.
Together, we diagnosed a 55-year-old patient who presented with difficulty breathing and confusion, and Sam talked us through the process of diagnosis and treatment from start to finish.
Fantastic not only to see our 6th form aspiring medics in attendance, but also many of our younger students, and it was also lovely to welcome guests from across the wider community.
Our next lecture will take place on Wednesday 18th November on International History. Save the date!
RHS School Gardening Awards success
In lovely news: huge congratulations to our RHS Gardening Awards club, who have successfully achieved their Level 1 award from the RHS School Gardening Awards! They are now working towards Level 2, very best of luck, and we look forward to sharing updates!
The club meets during lunch on Week B Thursdays and new members are always welcome!
Charity Donation Drive for Homeless Aid UK
Our Senior Prefect Team are organising a Charity Donation Drive to support those in need in our community and would love to receive donations of the above items next week. Please can students bring in donations from Monday 5th - Friday 9th October and hand them in to the drop point in the LRC. Huge thanks for supporting this fantastic cause!
It's a wrap on Lakeside 2026!
Last but by no means least, 7S and 7T returned to Urmston today after completing their residential trip, completing an absolutely wonderful week for Year 7.
We're incredibly proud of the cohort and their engagement in the wide range of outdoor activities.
The team spirit they have demonstrated, and their development of outdoor and core skills.
Of course, they had lots of fun too on this memory-making trip, and there was even a special birthday celebration for Daniel and Liv! We're also incredibly proud of our Sixth Form prefects who supported the trip and worked brilliantly with Year 7.
Another fantastic year at Lakeside, with huge thanks to all of our staff who made this wonderful experience possible for our students, and to the team at YMCA Lakeside.
