battle of the bands 2026

A fantastic Year 9 event and a lovely year group finale to the end of KS3!

Today was a very important event on our school and Performing Arts calendar: Year 9 Battle of the Bands!

Organised by Mr Harrison and Mrs Glen, our Year 9 students were invited to participate in groups in this epic battle of rock and musical talent.

Before lunch, 8 contending groups delivered storming performances, spanning eras and genres.

There were great vocals:

Drums, keyboards, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, piano, percussion, bass, tambourine, triangle, percussion, flute, and even violin!

After lunch, the atmosphere was rising as much as the temperature outside and there were still more standout performances.

And the level of support and participation demonstrated by the audience for their peers was phenomenal.

It was a very tough call for judges, Mr Harrison, Mrs Glen and Head of Year Mrs Ryan, to decide the winners, and standards were so high that, in a first for the event, individual awards were also given out.

But ultimately there could only be 3 winning groups. Huge congratulations to 3rd placed Evan, Seb, Kensei and Vedant for an amazing rendition of "Someone You Loved".

To second-placed: Lucy, Angelica, Leah, Nona, Lila and Lillian for a superb performance of "Valerie".

And our rock royalty champions are ... oh no, we're all going to have to wait with bated breath until the announcement at our end-of-Year House Assembly next Friday! It WILL be worth the wait!

Really well done to everyone who took part today, Mrs Ryan expressed her huge pride in them all, and it was a truly lovely way for Year 9 to wrap up their KS3 time together.
