welcome to ugs

Wonderful to welcome so many guests this week!
Yesterday we were delighted to welcome 50 international University of Manchester post-graduate MEd students and staff (lead picture), and also to warmly welcome back none other than Mrs Wall, who, since retiring from UGS in the summer, has been enjoying working on the University of Manchester PGCE Partnership Liaison team, supporting students on their PGCE courses.

Our guests began their visit with presentations from Mr Kennedy-Fowler and Mrs Wall on schools and secondary education in England, and on the history, ethos, provision and core values of UGS. It was then time for a tour of the school from our Year 7 students, who proudly showcased our facilities, before the opportunity to experience UGS teaching and learning in action by visiting some of our lessons.

We greatly enjoyed welcoming our guests and introducing them to life at UGS, and it has been fantastic to receive so much lovely feedback from them about our school and our student and staff community!
Year 6 Visiting Day
After welcoming our new cohort of students for the new academic year with their parents and carers on Monday's Induction evening, we're excited today top welcome Year 6 on Visiting Day for a full day's programme of events, supported by proud Year 7 and 12 UGS ambassadors and nominated "buddies", including Nell 7T, Elsie 7T, Phoebe 7S, Sitara 7S and Bella 7S (pictured below).

Year 6 will meet their new form and form teacher, participate in lessons, a wellbeing session, and enjoy the opportunity to meet our staff, leadership team, current students and, of course, each other! Have a wonderful day Year 6!
