Year 13 Jonathan wins prestigious competition and we celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 as they approach the end of their UGS journey

We're delighted to share news that, in an outstanding achievement, Jonathan 13R (pictured above) has won the prestigious national competition: Babel Young Writer's Award 2026.

Jonathan produced a hugely impressive piece of work: "The Languages of the Pre-Roman West" that explored how and why Latin took over as the civic language of the empire.

We could not be more proud, really well done Jonathan!

Year 13 Awards Assembly

As our Year 13 students sadly approach the end of their UGS journey, yesterday marked the penultimate whole year group event as Head of Sixth Form Mrs Mangham-Dewhurst arranged a special assembly for them.

Form tutors and subject teachers were asked to nominate Year 13 for a range of awards commemorating their time with us.

And just some of the students are pictured proudly collecting their awards.

We're incredibly proud of them all, they've been a fantastic cohort, and we look forward to celebrating their time with us at this Friday's leaver's event and special assembly!

Farewell Senior Prefect Team

At break time today there was a special farewell celebration for our outgoing Senior Prefect Team, including Head Boy Zane and Head Girl Rahmat, pictured with Head of Sixth Form Mrs Mangham-Dewhurst.

Mrs Mangham-Dewhurst, along with Assistant Heads of Sixth Form Mr Neale and Mrs Mohamed, shared heartfelt thanks for all their hard work and pride in all that they've achieved.

They've been a fantastic team and great ambassadors for UGS: we'll miss them all and wish them the very best of well-deserved success!
