end of term

Very busy end to another fantastic UGS term!
Spring term has drawn to a close but, as ever, there has been a great deal taking place in school.
KS3 House Library Event (lead picture)

To celebrate the end of term, a special Easter-themed event took place in our Reading Room at lunch yesterday: story slam!

Students were challenged to use their creative writing skills and imagination to craft the idea for a story inspired by a selection of Easter objects.

Lots of literary fun and some great ideas were pitched.

Huge congratulations to our overall winners (pictured below) and a big shout-out to joint first-placed winners Evie 7R and Olive 7U!

Year 11 Success Assembly

Yesterday, Year 11 took part in their final Success Assembly of the term, focusing on core revision and preparation strategies for the Modern Languages GCSE speaking exam.

There will be an extensive programme of revision sessions taking place on site over the Easter break to support our students at this all-important time as the GCSEs approach, and we wish Year 11 well-deserved success as they continue their ongoing hard work.
Year 7 German Spelling Bee

Also, at lunchtime yesterday, our MFL department organised a German spelling bee for our keen Year 7 linguists.

Great language skills were demonstrated, with congratulations to overall winners: Sharon 7M, Amen 7M and Heidi 7M!

Year 10 Geographers

This morning, Mr Neale was delighted to share that he was very impressed by the hard work and presentations delivered by his Year 10 GCSE Geography class on key 21st century issues including transport, housing, changing demographics and politics.

This constitutes part of their topic on UK in the 21st century. Well done all!

Year 13 Celebration of Achievement

On this final day of term, Head and Assistant Head of Sixth Form Mrs Mangham-Dewhurst and Mr Neale were delighted to organise a special celebration for the Year 13 students who have impressed us all with their excellent progress, achievement of the highest grade 1 for approach to learning across all of their subjects, and outstanding improvement.

Treats and certificates were awarded, and we know that all of the year group will continue to do us proud as they progress towards their A level exams. Well done!!
It only remains to wish everyone in our wider school community a joyous and restful Easter break, and we look forward to welcoming our students back when school reopens on Monday 20th April!
