science week goes out with a bang!

Grand finale to our British Science Week 2026 celebrations!

We have enjoyed a fantastic programme of events for British Science Week and today marked our grand finale with the Flash Bang! show in Chemistry (lead picture and more on this later!)

Yesterday, our KS3 students had the opportunity to participate in the second of our special science week workshops on our art corridor that was led by Miss Bamford on designing and making cell resin keyrings.

The results were simply amazing, as you can see!

This morning opened with a special assembly delivered by staff from our Science department and the focus chimed with the theme of BSW this year: Curiosity: what's your question?

Dr Richards, Mrs Ryan, Miss Lowe, Mr Mumford and Mr Parker all joined together in encouraging our students to feed their curiosity and "read like a scientist".

Eaach read extracts from an inspirational title.

And shared how that the resource had enriched their own scientific journey.

Last but by no means least, at lunchtime, Miss Ghaffur and Mr Dodd hosted the epic Flash Bang! show in our Chemistry department (lead picture and below).

A really fun grand finale to the week of events, and a great way for our students to find out more about chemical processes and reactions.
