science week flies high

Drone-flying in Physics and workshops in Biology and Art as our Science Week celebrations continue!
After an epic launch with our Year 7 Science Fair on Monday, Science Week continues apace. In our Physics department, Year 11 got the opportunity to take part in a drone obstacle course.

It was lots of fun, while also helping our physicists understand Newtonian laws of motion as they navigated the course and control of the drone.

By varying rotor speeds, they enabled hovering, manoeuvring, and movement.

In Biology, Year 12 were able to participate in the first of 3 investigative workshops on the dissection of rats and eyes.

And in our Art corridor, KS3 students enjoyed taking part in Miss Jones's fantastic dendritic mono printing workshop.

"Dendritic" means resembling or having dendrites, or branching like a tree, as seen in nerve cells.

As you can see, the outcomes were fantastic, and our students had lots of fun in the process.

See the video on our socials for an insight into the fascinating process from start to finish!

Later today, further workshops will take place in Art and Biology, while tomorrow Year 9 will get the opportunity to make a trebuchet in DT, and there is the epic grand finale "Flash Bang" show. We can't wait!
