year 7 celebrate world book day

As our programme of events for World Book Day week continues, we were delighted to see so many Year 7 students keen to participate in our special Golden Ticket event at lunchtime in the Reading Room.

Our keen readers were tasked with pitting their wits to solve the book-y clues in a literary quiz on popular and classic titles.

But that was not all ... they then had to unscramble the anagram to discover the title of a well-loved book in which the elusive golden ticket was hidden!

It was lots of literary fun and also a great opportunity to earn those all-important house points!

Year 7 impressed us with their knowledge and enthusiasm both for reading and for participation.

Huge congratulations to our ultimate winners who successfully unscrambled the anagram (Morpugo's War Horse!): Ruby, Bella, Madeleine, Hadassah, Sophie, Lois, Liam, Amen, Rio, John, Zenith and Oscar.

Still lots more to look forward to: tomorrow's Book Swap, Friday's celebration of reading in assembly, and the return to UGS of author Daniel Dockery, who is going to meet with all of the Year 7 entrants and finalists to his creative writing competition, share personalised feedback on each of their stories and announce the winners. We can't wait!
