house week

A truly fantastic end to half-term!

This week has seen the second of our House weeks, and it's been bigger and better than ever!

Launching on Monday with a special assembly from Oak House:

The week has not only been a celebration of the achievements of our students in each of their respective houses.

But an opportunity to be awarded bonus house points, and a chance to win a gift voucher from a prize draw, with one prize available per house.

Each of the daily assemblies also celebrated the house events that have taken place so far this half term, including the Interhouse Chess tournament.

With a big shout-out to unbeaten players Orme's Srikrish 9M and Bradfield's Flo 7T!

We've enjoyed both interhouse basketball and Interhouse netball this week:

And celebrated House Football Managers of the Month (well done Mersey House Thomas)!

Not to mention House library events such as our LGBT+ History Month Writing Competition, Valentine's Blind Date with a Book, and our Half-Term House Reading Champions:

We've also looked forward to events like the Anthea Bell Translation Prize:

Interhouse Sports Day:

And House library celebrations for the week of World Book Day, including the big UGS Book Swap!

This morning's Mersey House assembly concluded House week, with a grand finale of the big reveal of the house who ends this half-term topping the leaderboard: BRADFIELD! Really well done!

As we look forward to the remainder of Spring Term, however, there is still a great deal to play for for our houses, and a great many more opportunities for our students to participate in all things house, while being awarded those all-important house points for demonstrating our core UGS values of Pride, Participation and Empathy.

With huge thanks to our house leaders and prefects for a wonderful conclusion to the half-term, and we could not be more proud of the many achievements of our students.

It only remains to wish all in our wider UGS community a wonderful half-term break!
