celebrating our innovators!

Design success, interhouse sport & number day!

Head of Design Technology Mr Barber is pictured above this morning with the winners of our recent in-house design competition for the V&A Innovate National Schools Challenge 2025-6. This year, participants were tasked with designing a solution and product for a real-world problem in the context of pre-school children's educational and social needs around the themes of: join, reimagine, rest.

Projects were assessed in 3 areas: Concept, Drawings and Model, and it was an incredibly tough call to judge for Mr Barber and Mr Reid as the standard of entries was so high.

But huge congratulations to Team 9 (Kathryn, Kirishika, Lottie & Ruby) for taking Gold with their innovative Link Click Watch; Team 10 (Yasasvi, Christianna, Dheethya & Oliver) for earning Silver with their Virtual Headset and Vehicle; and Team 1 (Ayla, Rosie, Aline & Bea) for winning Bronze with their Mixed Activity Train.

We’re so proud of everyone who took part, their ideas and teamwork truly shone, and our in-house winning designs are now heading to the national competition. Good luck to our innovators, and we look forward to sharing updates!

NSPCC Number Day

Today is NSPCC Number Day and our Maths department - supported by 11R (pictured below) who prepared a special PowerPoint on the day for our KS3 students - organised a day of mathematical challenges that students were invited to enter in exchange for a donation to the NSPCC, and in return for an award of those all-important house points.

Our year 7-9 students were also tasked with the mission to locate staff members (such as Mrs Feenan, pictured below) wearing numbers for the day, to record them and use their discoveries to crack mathematical equations.

Lovely to see our school community coming together to mark the day, with huge thanks to everyone who took part and made a difference.

Year 7 Interhouse Netball tournament

On Thursday it was our Year Interhouse Netball tournament.

It was great to see so much enthusiasm, team spirit and great levels of play on display. Really well done to everyone who took part!

Interhouse Girls Football tournament

This took place during lunchtime today on our astroturf despite challenging weather conditions; some fantastic football was played, well done girls!

Next week, we look forward to our second House week of the year: expect daily house assemblies and celebrations, bonus house points, and a prize draw per house - we can't wait!
