a productive week

Lots to celebrate and showcase as another busy week ends!

In the lead picture is our TARA (Trafford Schools' Antiracism Alliance) committee of students from Years 11 to 13 with Mr Kennedy-Fowler as they finished a really productive lunchtime meeting yesterday in which they moved forward with planning for a forthcoming series of awareness-raising and celebratory events and initiatives.

These include form activities and a special canteen menu to celebrate Chinese New Year; a Cultural Day involving our whole school community; hosting a conference with TARA representatives from schools across Trafford; and an assembly to profile diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

We are really proud of this example of our students leading in promoting understanding and empathy across our school and wider community, and we look forward to sharing updates on all that they achieve.

UKMT Maths Challenge

A group of our mathematicians from Years 9, 10 and 11 participated in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge on Wednesday, a great opportunity for them to put their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills to the test, and we wish them the very best of luck!

Year 10 GCSE Art

Miss Bamford has this week been proud to showcase the work of her talented Year 10 GCSE Art Class (with some examples above and below); they created these impressively creative biro drawings in response to the artist Karl Blossfeldt, and we are in awe of their talent. Well done!

Whole School Assembly

We rounded off the week with a whole school assembly led by Assistant Head Mr Roberts on the theme of etymology, language use, and the importance of celebrating the range of languages and cultures from around the world that have created the uniquely diverse British society that we are all proud to be a part of.

We were also treated to a pitch-perfect performance of Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club from talented Year 11 musicians Marianne, Lara, Maddy and Shanese (pictured below).

Well done all, a really uplifting start to another UGS Friday!
