year 9 options day

Full day's programme of events as Year 9 build their pathways into KS4

Today our Year 9 students participated in a full day's programme of events as they enter an important stage in their journey with us and make decisions on their GCSE options.

Assistant Head Mr Roberts (lead picture and below) introduced the day and presented on the importance of the process of selecting option subjects.

Head of Science Dr Richards followed with a presentation on our GCSE Science provision of AQA Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the 2 pathways that are available to our students: separate sciences or combined science.

Year 9 then attended rotating presentations delivered by subject leaders on each of the GCSE courses available to study at UGS; and our students enjoyed the opportunity to find out further information and ask questions.

The day ended with a presentation from our Careers Adviser Miss Marshall on the extensive careers guidance and provision available to our students, and from visiting speaker Luke (pictured below) from Salford City College group, who discussed post-16 options with Year 9.

A fantastic day for Year 9 as they take their all-important next steps. Our deadline for submission of option choices is 13th February, and all supporting information will be circulated to our parents and carers ahead of this date.
