Year 9 students visit France & Belgium for World War One history trip
Yesterday in the early hours, a group of our Year 9 students and staff departed Urmston for our annual Battlefields History trip to enrich their learning about the history of World War One.

They arrived in Dover mid-afternoon after a good trip down to board the ferry to Calais (pictured above).

This morning, after a great night's rest, they were up bright and early in Albert for a 9am arrival at the fantastic Musee Somme.

Here they got the opportunity to learn more about the 1916 Battle of the Somme and the experiences of the soldiers who engaged in the offensive.

And to take part in a weapons and uniform demonstration.

Later today, they are due to visit Ulster Tower and Thiepval Woods trenches, memorial and museum, and we look forward to sharing updates.
