supercurricular lecture

Brilliant interactive lecture on law yesterday evening

Last night we were delighted to welcome back former student and Familiy Law barrister Savannah Woolgar-Harris to deliver the latest in our series of supercurricular lectures: "Think like a Judge".

Savannah spoke about her own journey into the profession, which saw her transfer to Urmston Grammar Sixth form from another school at the start of Year 12, progressing to read Law on completing her A levels with us, and being called to the bar in 2021.

After presenting on all that being a barrister involves and on family law, Savannah then introduced the interactive element of the lecture. 5 cases were presented to us and we the audience were invited to decide through anonymous digital voting.

Once the majority verdict was reached, it was then revealed what the actual judicial decision had been.

It was a fascinating, insightful and enjoyable experience for all, and many in the audience were inspired to find out more, asking a range of questions at the end.

We are extremely proud at Urmston Grammar to foster a culture of academic curiosity and aspiration in our students, and it was wonderful to see so many in attendance with their parents and carers.

With huge thanks to Savannah for giving her time to return to UGS to inspire us all.
