great end to half term

Year 11 visit Oxford University, celebrating the winners of House Week & more!

As our last week of a busy half term draws to a close, there has been a great deal taking place as ever. On Monday, our entire Year 12 cohort visited Lancaster University for a day's higher education experience:

And yesterday, a group of 24 of our Year 11 students took in the dreamy spires of Oxford University (lead picture and below) accompanied by Miss Smith and Mr Connell, enjoying a tour of Corpus Christi, attending lectures and seminars, and partaking of a sumptuous lunch in awe-inspiring surroundings:

House Week Winners

Today, there was a fitting finale to the finish of our first half term, with a celebration of the winners of our very first dedicated House week, in which students were set a challenge; any achieving 5 house points or more would be awarded with a bonus of 5, and pictured below are some of our most prolific house point winners: Charlie Y8 (Orme), Oliver Y8 (Mersey),  Aleena Y11 (Park)  and Aidah Y11 (Orme), who all smashed the five point target and were amongst the leaders in their respective year groups.

In total, in an amazing achievement, our students were awarded over 5000 house points last week, which is a real testament to their hard work and positive attitudes. We could not be more proud and look forward to seeing all that they achieve when we return after the break, with lots more house challenges, initiatives and events to look forward to.

TARA fund-raising events

Also today, our anti-racism ambassadors organised both a fund-raising bake sale:

And a prize hamper raffle in aid of charity Show Racism the Red Card. It was great to see our students and staff show their support with huge congratulations to lucky winner Phoebe 7S, who was delighted to be taking the hamper of goodies home!

ISOC also organised the last of their fund-raising events for Islamic Relief: "Sponge the Committee", following yesterday's fantastic lunchtime Cultural Food Fest:

Football Success

Last but by no means least, we are delighted to share that this evening our girls' football team triumphed in a fantastic 4-0 win to finish the Girls' Autumn football league. It was a brilliant team performance with some fabulous goals, including one from a corner kick! The girls enjoyed some well-deserved chocolate to celebrate at full time, with a huge thankyou to Dr McPartland for taking the team to the match.

Wishing everyone in our whole school community a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
