mission to mars

Science Club get ready for launch!
Our new half term launched today in full energy mode, not least on our Science corridor, where Year 7 Science Club could be found hard at work on their latest project: Mars landers.
Channelling the spirit of Curiosity, Phoenix and Rover amongst others, their mission is to design landing apparatus using the NASA template of a pyramid lander capsule utilising balloons, tape and boxes, that will safely transport and land its cargo: an egg!
During the experiment, as well as lots of scientific fun, our students were encouraged to think about the variables required to optimise the success of their design: gravity, force, velocity, acceleration and air resistance.
Next week, they look forward to launching and testing their designs. We can't wait - watch this space for updates!
Huge thanks as ever to Team Science for creating these wonderful extracurricular learning opportunities for our students.
