post 18 options evening

Fantastic to welcome our Year 12 Parents and Carers this week
On Thursday we invited the parents and carers of our Year 12 students to join us for an informative evening on important next steps as Year 12 prepare to apply to university and for degree apprenticeships and employment. This information is already available to our students, but we value the importance of ensuring that our community of parents and carers is also fully debriefed and supported.
Our Sixth Form Team Mr Neale (lead picture), Miss Lingwood (above) and Mrs Mohammed (pictured below) offered parents and carers an insight into how the calendar of preparation looks for Year 12 moving forward, all the support available to them at UGS, a guide to UCAS; and all the events and initiatives coming up that are geared towards optimising university applications, including the forthcoming Post-18 experience day that incorporates mock interviews.
Our Careers advisor Amy Marshall (below) presented on alternatives to university and degree apprenticeships and gap years, and on the careers support available in school.
And guest speaker Faye (MMU) presented on the extensive degree apprenticeship programme at MMU, the wealth of organisations, sectors and businesses involved, and a detailed guide to the application process.
It was fantastic to see the evening so well-attended by our Year 12 parents and carers, and all the information presented, and access to useful links and resources, will be circulated soon and made available on our website.
With huge thanks to our SFT, Amy Marshall, Faye from MMU, and all who attended this important and insightful evening.
