year 12 deliver supercurricular presentations
So proud of our Year 12s as they present to students and staff on their research topics
Throughout this academic year, a cohort of our Year 12s have been involved in a supercurricular group, for which they researched their own chosen topics and areas of academic interest; and after a great deal of hard work they presented their findings in our Theatre after school yesterday, with more to follow on Thursday.
In our lead montage are just some of the Year 12 students who presented on an expansive range of specialised topics that fall within the fields of Science, the Humanities and Maths, and which they have a keen interest in pursuing in Higher education and professionally.
Just some of the topics that the students have been engaged in researching and presenting on are as follows:
Misogyny and Medicine
Dachau Concentration Camp
Peridontal Disease
Quantum Computing
Sustainability in Aerospace Engineering
Philosophy & Zen Koans in Buddhism
Infinity: the Maths & Philosophy of the Unknown
The students' enthusiasm for their elected research areas shone through, and the level of knowledge demonstrated was truly impressive. And all delivered their presentations with confidence and intellectual aplomb.
As observed by Head of Year and Assistant Head of Sixth Form Mr Neale, who has co-ordinated the supercurricular group, our Year 12 students should be really proud of themselves, and of their commitment not only to extended learning, but to enrichment and to the whole school community.
Really well done all, and we look forward to the next presentations on Thursday: watch this space for updates!
