a very busy day

Year 5 Maths & Sciences Day, Year 12 Suprcurricular Presentations & More!

Today we were delighted to welcome Year 5 pupils and staff from Urmston and Davyhulme Primaries to our Year 5 Maths and Science Day.

After a warm UGS welcome, our guests took part in two Maths workshops: in the morning, there was "Tak-Tiles" with Mr Prastka and Miss Devenney-Lees:

And after lunch, a "Carousel" of arithmetical challenges with a group of our Year 7 mathematicians, supported by Mrs Kelly and Mr Prastka.

In Science, Year 5 enjoyed time in the lab working on Indicators with Mr Leech, before a fun workshop with Mars Landers as an exciting finale to a brilliant day of learning!

There was also time to enjoy lunch al fresco and tours of school from our Year 12 students.

Huge thanks to our guests for visiting & for your enthusiastic participation in our STEM activities, we really enjoyed meeting you all & introducing you to our UGS community. And we're very proud of our Year 7 & 12 students for all their hard work & contributions to our UGS welcome, excellent ambassadors one and all for our core school values.

Year 12 Supercurricular presentations

A brilliant afternoon of presentations from our Year 12 Supercurricular students who presented their research findings on a huge breadth of subjects and specialist areas including medicine, mechanics, dentistry, ethics, philosophy, engineering, maths, AI, economics and literature.

We're really proud of all their hard work, academic rigour and intellectual curiosity. Well done!

Future Lionesses

A group of our Year 7, 8 & 9 girls took part in the England Future Lionesses Talent ID Day supported by the Ella Toone Academy and they absolutely smashed it!

During the afternoon session, they performed brilliantly in 3v3 matches after a morning of 1v1 and 7v7. Great work girls!
