year 11 prom

On Friday evening our fantastic Year 11 Class of 2026 enjoyed a fabulous prom at the Hilton Hotel Manchester Airport.

Everyone looked smartly fabulous:

There was fine dining

And, of course, lots of dancing!

In a glorious opportunity for the year group to celebrate together and with staff following a wonderful 5 years at UGS!

Celebrating Musical talent

Today we have been incredibly proud of our students Diego and Garcia (pictured below) and Oscar, who delivered brilliantly talented performances and original compositions with each of their respective bands THR33, Embers and Resonance at the Royal Northern College of Music Young Artists Summer performance, a fantastic showcase of all that the Young Artists have learnt through their participation in the RNCM programme.

Places are secured on the programme following successful auditions, and throughout the placement, as well as enjoying tutelage in musicianship, technique and artistic development from both Young Artists staff and student mentors, the boys have had the opportunity to perform at a number of prestigious venues. Sadly, this will be be Diego's final Young Artists' performance as he embarks on univeristy study in September, but we wish all the boys the very best of success moving forward, and share our huge congratulations to all on today's phenomenal show. Well done!

Welcome to our KZU students

Last but by no means least in our latest news, Head and Assistant Head of Sixth Mrs Mangham-Dewhurst and Mrs Mohamed have been delighted to meet students from KZU school in Bülach, Switzerland, who we're very much looking forward to welcoming to UGS in September for a term of study on their immersion programme!
