house writing competition

Celebrating the finalists & winners of our Refugee Week event!
Today, at break, we were delighted to celebrate with the finalists of our House writing competition that we organised in recognition of Refugee Week.
Rory 8S, Anita 8U, Mishaal 7T, Elsie 7T, Nell 7T (pictured above L-R), Kara 8S and Krithiga 7U joined Ms Longden and Bradfield House leader Mrs Chadwick for a celebratory get-together and showcase of their work, before the judges deliberated to decide upon the winners.
Students were invited to submit either creative writing or a non-fiction pieces in response to reflecting on Refugee Week and the theme this year of courage.
We were incredibly impressed not only with the thought and effort our students had put into their writing – the standard of entries was superb, making it a tough call to pick our winners - but with the ways in which their compositions expressed our core values of Pride, Participation and Empathy.
With huge congratulations to our ultimate winners:
- Rory 8S for his moving short story “Without Looking Back”
- Mishaal 7T for her beautifully crafted poem “Courage”
- Nell 7T for her excellently written research and infographics on the Refugee Olympic team
Really well done to all of our entrants, we're incredibly proud of you all!
