Commendations to our students in the prestigious Anthea Bell prize for Young Translators!
We're delighted to share news about, and give huge congratulations to, our students who entered and achieved immense success in the prestigious Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, organised by Queen's College, Oxford and judged by the University of Oxford Languages Faculty.
We entered ten pieces of brilliant work and FOUR of our students received commendations: Liam 8S (German), who is pictured above this morning proudly receiving his certificate from Mrs Chadwick, who coordinated participation.
Also Ilinca 12X (Spanish) (pictured below) and Shanese 11R (French AND Mandarin) - a fantastic performance from Shanese, who is currently not in school having completed all of her GCSEs!

Mrs Chadwick shares that she is hugely proud of all the students who entered and that this year we submitted the most entries ever to the competition, and that they were some of the best work that she has seen over the years!
In congratulating our commended students, Queen's College shared that "over 25,000 students participated in the competition in 2026, and we judged over 5,400 entries, so this is a fantastic achievement. Our judges also commented on the very high standard of entries this year and remarked that it was extremely hard to choose winners and commendations".
Really well done to everyone who took part – we could not be more proud of you all!
Year 10 Reward Trip to Alton Towers
Also, today our Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic day in the sunshine at theme park Alton towers.

A lovely treat making memories after all their hard work this year!

Huge thanks to all of our staff who supported the trip and to Head of Year Mr Gough for the photography. And you can see lots more pictures on our socials!
