Year 12 and Year 10 head to North Yorkshire and Cumbria on expeditions

On Thursday, our Year 12 Duke of Edinburgh students headed to Upper Wensleydale North Yorkshire for their Silver practice expedition, where they are being trained by professionals in outdoor skills in preparation for their qualifying expedition.

They took part in a trangia stove demonstration:

Before heading out to navigate their hike. Undeterred by the rain, spirits were high.

And today they woke up to brighter conditions as they hit the road to Dentdale.

Before a lovely evening preparing their evening meal in the sunshine:

Today they have been joined by 94 of our Year 10 Bronze D of E students who are on their qualifying expedition (lead picture and below).

This evening, camp has successfully been established in Dentdale.

And we wish everyone involved a lovely evening and success in their expeditions!

Huge thanks to D of E lead Dr McPartland and all of our staff who support D of E and facilitate these fantastic opportunities and experiences for our students.
