celebrating participation & creativity

Our students impress with their talents in Poetry and Art!

We are incredibly proud of the students who recently entered our House Library Poetry Competition and we organised a special reward celebration (pictured above) at which their poems were displayed and staff and students enjoyed the opportunity to read their poems.

We were greatly impressed by the standard of entries, the breadth of themes and the levels of time and creativity that the students dedicated to writing their poems.

It was a very tough call to pick the winners for our judges, Mr Regan, Mrs Chadwick and Ms Longden, but, after much deliberation, it was decided that the following (pictured L-R) were our overall winners:

Rory 8S: "A Penguin Life"

Kara 8S: "How Joyous Life Can Be"

Hazel 7S: "The Last Day"

Mishaal 7T: "The Hidden World"

Debbie 12G: "Won't Give Up" (not pictured)

Huge congratulations to all and their poems have now been put forward for the prestigious national Foyle Young Poets Award. We wish them the very best of luck and look forward to sharing updates!

Artist of the Month

We're also delighted to close the week by celebrating our talented Artist of the Month Helena 12X!

This fantastic piece of work was created using oil paints, then transferred to fabric and embellished with sequins and beads. It is now on display in the Art Corridor for all to enjoy and appreciate!
