celebrating success

Today a group of our girls travelled to Longford Park stadium where they competed in the Girls Athletics Championships.

There were some fantastic performances, most notably from Ada 7U, Crystal 9U and Faith 10S, who finished second in their races.

Really well done girls, and we're getting very excited for our school Sports Day at Longford on Friday 3rd July!

Year 8 Piano success

We're also delighted to celebrate the fantastic accomplishments of talented pianist Aiden 8T who has not only successfully passed his Grade 6 Piano Practical Examination, for which he was awarded a Merit, but also recently took part in the Piano Solo category of the UK Schools Music Festival where he was awarded Silver. These are great achievements. We're very proud, really well done Aiden!

Ballet

In a great achievement, 3 of our students: Grace 7U, Jess 8U (pictured below) and Elayna 7M were selected to perform with the company in the forthcoming English Youth Ballet production of Swan Lake.

This will take place on Friday and Saturday at Manchester's Palace Theatre. We have been delighted to welcome the company to UGS for rehearsals after school hours, and we wish all performers the very best of luck!

Year 12 Maths Workshop

Today our Maths department has been delighted to welcome Seb Bicen from Bicen Maths for an absolutely brilliant exam technique workshop for our Year 12 mathematicians. Mr Bicen spoke about optimal strategies for exam success, for achieving the highest marks, and for calming exam nerves, leaving our students truly inspired!
