bronze d of e training

Our Year 10 D of E students take part in a weekend of training in outdoor skills
We have enjoyed successful involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh scheme at all levels for many years, and this weekend over 90 of our Year 10 students - the highest amount ever - headed to Mandale near Buxton in Derbyshire for a weekend of training from specialist outdoors instructors in preparation for the actual Bronze expedition next month.

After an early departure on Saturday:

Our students wasted no time in setting up camp:

They were then coached in the countryside code, first aid and map reading; and on the slightly soggy Saturday evening it was time to prepare the evening's meal:

Before waking up bright and early today to set off in groups to put their training to the test on a gruelling hike.

The students did extremely well, and we're very proud of them all and look forward to sharing updates on how they get on next month in the actual qualifying Bronze expedition!
