world book day

A fantastic UGS celebration of reading!

Happy World Book Day! Our Year 7 students got us into the literary spirit as the day began by enjoying dedicated reading time in form.

There was also the opportunity to take part in a special World Book Day Quiz on nineteenth-century classics, inspired by the renewed vigour for the genre generated by the release of the latest blockbusting adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Our Feminist Society and a group of staff and students were also proud to participate in the Futures for all UK broadcast of author and activist Kate Mosse's lecture: Putting Women Back into History, one Day at a Time, organised to celebrate both International Women's Day and World Book Day.

At lunchtime, our House Book Swap event took place in the LRC and it was fantastic to see many of our students taking part.

All enjoying the opportunity to take home a new read as well as earning those all-important house points.

In a finale to our World Book Day week of celebrations, tomorrow we will enjoy a special reading assembly and look forward to author Daniel Dockery's visit to award prizes to our Year 7 entrants to his Adventure Story writing competition.

We can't wait!
