laser sharp learning

Fantastic Science Club workshop today!
This lunchtime's Science Club workshop was a blast as our Year 7 and 8 students experimented with laser pointers and mirrors to learn more about light reflection and refraction and to explore the wonders of fiber optics.

Delivered by Mr Murray and our Science technicians, Mrs Yarwood and Mr Sharp, lots of hands-on learning, teamwork, and curiosity were on display.

Our scientists used mirrors to make their laser pointers shine on their targets, learning about how they could change light's direction by reflecting it off the surface of their mirrors.

The same principle applies, of course, when light is refracted through a different material such as water.

And our students learnt that fibre optics is a technology that also works on the phenomenon of total internal reflection.

Great to see so much enthusiastic participation from our students, and we look forward to seeing what they discover next week!
