SPELLBINDING TRIP

Our Art students visit Warner Bros studios & more!
Yesterday Miss Bamford arranged for a group of our GCSE Art students and a cohort from Years 8 and 9 to head down to London for the Warner Bros Studio tour: the making of Harry Potter.

As well as having a spell-bindingly magical time, they left inspired by the huge range of production designs on display.

Year 11 have also been inspired this week, firstly by a visit from BA (Hons) Marketing placement year student Ash Marapunga from Liverpool John Moores University (pictured below), who delivered an excellent talk on his journey into higher education and on what life at university is really like, inspiring Year 11 to ask lots of questions.

This morning also saw Assistant Head Miss Lowe (pictured below) deliver the latest in our series of Success Assemblies to Year 11 on effective revision strategies and retrieval practice, with a focus on blurting, that will form the basis of this week's success task.

Meanwhile, our KS4 and 5 Book Club have started work on Maggie O'Farrell's impactful novel Hamnet, ahead of the cinematic release of the screen adaptation, and they are pictured below channelling the spirit of the always spooky Act 1 Scene 1!

It's great that our students exhibit and model a love of literature outside of their curriculum texts.

And our Year 7 Book Club (pictured above at lunchtime yesterday) are enjoying our New Year New Term House reading challenge, a really great start from both book clubs to the National Year of Reading 2026.
