national language challenge

Our Year 9 linguists take part in national code-breaking competition & more!
Today saw the launch of the National Language Challenge, for which our linguists from Year 9 were invited to take part by our MFL department.

It's a national code-cracking and puzzle-solving competition for Year 9 - in French and German – that the department is also running as a UGS House competition, so our students, as well as the opportunity to win national prizes, will also have the chance to be awarded those all important house points and rewards.
As Monday ended, one of our teams finished in the top 200 nationally; there's everything to play for as the week progresses. Watch this space!
Art & Textiles

Also today, our Year 10 Art and Textiles students took part in a print-making workshop, making great use of foliage collected from our grounds, with some impressive results, as you can see!

Year 7 Science Club

And in Year 7 Science Club this lunchtime, it was time for the students to engage in some fun microscopic investigations of plant and animal cells in a workshop led by Mr Murray.

Lots more will be taking place at UGS this week, we look forward to sharing updates. And for more photographs of all the events, follow our socials!
