LRC and reading room

Learning Resource Centre

The LRC is a supervised independent study facility with capacity for 80 students that provides access to computers, digital and printed resources, and non-fiction and reference books throughout the day and during the after-school period.

Sixth Form students can access the facility during independent study sessions, and it is available to all other students outside of teaching periods: before morning registration, at break, during lunch and after school until 4.30pm.

It provides a valuable supported space for study and homework and facilitates the opportunity to undertake this after school in a focused environment.

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is a separate Fiction Library providing a selection of over 3000 books comprising new and best-selling titles from all genres and for all ages; the Classics; an impressive range of diverse and inclusive reads; and titles from both departmental and our Urmston 100 Recommended Reading Lists.  It is accessible to all students during break and lunch and provides a quiet supervised space in which to read and loan out resources, and to find inspiration for further reading.

We are proud of our reading culture at Urmston Grammar and are pleased to offer regular opportunities for students to participate in reading clubs, events and celebrations, and to take up roles as Student Librarians and Literacy Ambassadors.
